(Camden, Maine) There’s something about sea glass that stirs the imagination of anyone who loves the romance of its weathered beauty. Anyone who loves sea glass should mark the calendar for Saturday, September 5^th, noon-5:00 P.M. That’s when Carole Lambert, award-winning author of “A Passion for Sea Glass,” will be autographing copies of her new Down East book at Jane Alden – All Things Special, 6 Main Street, Camden.

Also appearing at Jane Alden on Saturday will be the owners and designers of Chart Metalworks, Charlotte Leavitt and John Guptil, who will offer a trunk show of their unique jewelry creations. Chart Metalworks takes prints of detail from nautical charts, and embeds them in resin in sterling silver or bronze pendants, bracelets, earrings, pins, even key rings and belt buckles. They will have a large selection of Camden area pieces as well as samples from their entire line on display. Custom orders will also be accepted.

Belfast, Maine that is!

What a fun day we had at Brambles in downtown Belfast. You have to check out this happy little boutique, a must on your shopping itinerary the next time you go to Midcoast Maine/are en route to Bar Harbor!! If you have time hit the co-op for snacks or a sandwich, or Chase's Daily for delicious greens and fresh baked bread. If you time it right you can even pick up some fresh flowers at the indoor farmers' market at Chase's. We hear (shhh) it is going to be in Saveur in September. See we know where it is at (literally). Enjoy the day. We're off to get coffee before making gift items for a lovely bride's bridesmaids. All in a days work!

Our Weekend Travels

The Maine islands have treated us well the past few days. Thursday we headed to to the island of Vinalhaven, located 12 miles off the coast of Maine. The island is the largest island in Penobscot Bay and reachable by ferry and plane from nearby Rockland. There is a fishing community, which comprises a solid portion of the 1,200 or so winter residents and a significant summer population driven by tourists and Maine's weekend warriors. The Island Home, which carries our line, is a working fiber arts studio that offers local crafters raw materials and provides multi-generational learning experiences for crafters of all levels. Thankfully they are also a popular retail venue for New England artisans like us.

Friday we arrived on North Haven, a town with a small (but solid) year-round island community, which is also serviced by daily ferry service and air taxi from Rockland. Our trunk show at The North Haven Gift Shop was well attended and great fun.

Last night we arrived in Bar Harbor where we were proud to be featured in the Friends of Acadia Benefit Auction at The Asticou in Northeast Harbor. Friends of Acadia is a nonprofit membership organization, whose mission is to preserve, protect, and promote stewardship of the outstanding natural beauty, ecological vitality, and distinctive cultural resources of Acadia National Park and surrounding communities for the inspiration and enjoyment of current and future generations.

The area is well known for its summer residents, the dramatic cliffs of Acadia National Park, beautiful harbor with spectacular yachts, and famous residents including Martha Stewart.

Sea of Cotton in Bar Harbor, one of our favorite shops so we are thrilled they carry our line.
